Kick-Off De Unie Hasselt-Genk
21.06.2014

On June 21, the Unie Hasselt-Genk will be launched during an inspiring kick-off day. That’s the start of a series of summer activities that you will remember long after summer! According to curator Tom van Gestel, this is “an event without an end". During the launch day, you can discover the works of art, projects and exhibitions, listen to interesting talks by artists, and bump into musicians improvising on the themes of the brand new city tunes for Hasselt and Genk. At 16.00 sharp, you can witness the official start at Culture House Z33 and, on that evening, we will warmly welcome you to a dazzling opening party at the EXIT-exhibition by MAD-faculty in Waterschei. The party will take place at a former mine building at Waterschei. From June 21 onwards you are very welcome to visit the Unie Hasselt-Genk.

Hasselt and Genk are two main cities of Limburg near each other. They both have an own identity and are rather complementary to each other. With De Unie Hasselt-Genk, Z33, together with contemporary artists and local cultural organizations, creates an art route that creates new connections between the two cities Hasselt and Genk.
De Unie Hasselt-Genk is the second art in the open space project. The first project pit is still on show until 2015 at Borgloon.

Z33 is an initiative of the Province of Limburg.
De Unie Hasselt-Genk is realized with the support of the Province of Limburg, the city of Genk, the city of Hasselt and the Fund for Cultural Infrastructure of the Flemish Community.
