Course My biological (r)evolution

The exhibition Alter Nature opens yet in November, but the theme is the starting point for some modules and workshops at the Media en Design Academie in Genk and the Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg in Hasselt, under the name Alter Nature - My biological (r)evolution.

Students work together around the issues raised by biosciences and advanced technology, more specifically, synthetic biology. The project takes place in the first semester of the academic year 2010-2011 within the module 'Stories' (module for the master students in Communication and Multimedia Design students MDA) and the studios 'Painting' (students 2nd Bachelor Painting PHL) and New Media (Master students of PHL).

Tuesday 28 and Wednesday, September 29 Z33 comes in a two-day joint kick-off workshop with critical designer James Kind and synthetic biologist James Brown. They provide an appropriate introduction to the matter.

Then on October 13  the students will be 'linked' to bio-science and technology researchers during a 'speed dating' session. The results of the semester long studio classes are presented in the Alter Nature: We can exhibition from 28 to 30 January 2011.
