Sylvia Bossu was taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Dijon. She had her first exhibition in the same city in 1988. In 1992 she took part in the Ateliers of the Musee de l Art Moderne in Paris. Her work examined the relationship between the viewer and the artwork by means of diverse media. She often used objects as ready-mades in her work. From 1992 on, she showed her work with growing success in France and abroad. She died in 1995 in a car accident with her friend Eric Colliard. In 2006, she was posthumously honoured with the Evelyne Encelot Award.
