Paul Devens
Paul Devens (1965, Maastricht, the Netherlands) usually queries the apparent unquestioned naturalized conception of reality. His work ranges from soundscapes over installations to performances in which uncertainty and surprise aroused by random situations always play a key role.
Devens experiments with things 'happening' within a set framework. This leads to minimal actions, often thrust by computer made sounds and improvisations on digital media. Paul Devens was a student at the ABK and Jan van Eyck Academy, both in Maastricht.
His work has recently exhibited and performed in the Neuer Aachener
Kunstverein (2003), Ctrl_Alt_Del (Istanbul, 2003), Pause/ Gallery (Oboro, Montreal, 2004) and OCA/ISP (Oslo, 2004).
