Paul Casaer

A constant factor in Paul Casaer's photographic work is his fascination with the global landscape that surrounds us. Specific elements are highlighted and woven into a new context to form a narrative arrangement or aesthetic composition. Casaer's latest works stage a story in which only the beginning is indicated. Inspired by the photographic novel, the images explore the possibility of narration and the impossibility of it. For FREESPACE (Z33) Casaer examines the exhibition space itself, which is a former archive space in the beguinage. Photographic and sculptural interventions are used to make a certain absence perceptible.
