Evert Nijland

Evert Nijland (°1971, NL) received his Master in 1997 from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam (NL). He graduated in 1995 from the Jewellery department at Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam (NL).

Evert’ s work is based on a classic vernacular and executed in the most orthodox materials. Effortless Nijland manages to integrate a multitude of craft techniques. Because of his fascinations for the effects of light, glass has become a mayor element in his work. His predilection for glass comes from finding it pretty but meaningless. Challenging himself to create a meaning into glass, by transforming 2D drawings to 3D glass pieces. Purring his technique with craftsman glassblower Edwin Diepenrink.

His jewellery is in the collections of numerous museums of Fine Arts; The MAD museum (US -NY) and the Mint museum (US-NY) and in the Schmuckmuseum (DE). Evert is currently teaching at Gerrit Rietveld Academy (NL) and gives lectures and Master classes all over the world.
