Boris Chamatz

Boris Charmatz was trained at the Ecole de Danse de lOpera de Paris and the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon. He worked as a dancer for Regine Chopinot and Odile Duboc. In 1993, he founded the Association Edna together with Dimitri Chamblas. Together they created A bras le corps (1993) and Les Disparates (1994). On his own, Charmatz choreographed some 8 works. In 2002 he raised great interest with héâtre-élévision, a work for one spectator reduced to a movie format. In 2011, Charmatz was artiste associe at the Festival d Avignon. Besides his choreographic work, Charmatz has been doing film, installations, educative projects and research since 1997. Between 2002-2004, he started up the temporary, nomadic school Bocal. Since 2007, he is guest professor in Berlin. Since 2009, Charmatz is the director of the Centre choregraphique national in Rennes, which he renamed Musee de la danse.
