Bernhard Leitner

Bernhard Leitner °1938, studied architecture at the ‘Technical University’ in Vienna.Lived and worked from 1968 until 1983 in New York City (US). It was there that he started to develop his ideas about sound and spatial construction. Leitner first worked with the ‘Department of City Planning’, later as an associate professor at NYU. Lived and worked from 1983 until 1986 in Berlin (DE). From 1987 until 2005 he was professor Media Art at the ‘University of Applied Arts’ in Vienna. Leitner had exhibitions a.o. in PS 1, New York City, 1979, Documenta 7, Kassel, 1982, Venice Biennial, 1986. ‘Academy of Arts Berlin’ (Sonambiente), 1996, Donaueschingen, 1997, 2003 and 2009, ‘Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum fur Gegenwart’, Berlin 2008. TU Berlin, HorSaal, Wavefield Synthesis, 2010, ‘Georg Kargl Fine Arts’, Wenen, 2011.
